Almost nothing made for a dog is made to be looked at, so it gets hidden — the crate in the corner, the bowl behind the island, the bed chosen for how little you’ll notice it.
↳ HOW IT STARTED
She was crate trained and the crate did its job — a wire box with a blanket thrown over it so it wasn’t the first thing you saw in the room.
There was no version of it that belonged in a living room, so we started drawing one. Not a cage dressed up as furniture, but real furniture that happens to hold a dog: clean lines, vertical slats, warm wood. A piece meant to sit in the middle of a room instead of apologizing from the corner of it.

↳ MAKING IT
The first prototype was a Pad, sourced from a factory in China. It shipped to Santa Monica and it’s still in use today. Production has since moved to a factory in Massachusetts, so we can stand over the build ourselves. Everything is made there now.
Every furniture piece since is built the same way: furniture-grade Baltic birch plywood, hand-stained in small runs, made in the USA.

77 Bark Ave is still a small business, run out of Santa Monica by Jared McAdam with his dad and his brother Jake. Every order is packed with care and every question gets a real answer. Opal approves each design personally — usually by napping in it.
